Polyester

In the salt fog test, the polyester material performs best — it does not change color, has a low percentage of peeling and cracking (1.4 mm). Many polyester powders have high anti-corrosion properties and will perfectly protect the metal in the conditions of the coastal zone of the seas and polluted atmosphere big cities. However, not all polyester film formers have the same anti-corrosion characteristics — it is better to ask the manufacturer about each coating separately. Some have high rate of anti-corrosion properties, and others mostly average.

Epoxy

Epoxy coating materials in a salty environment are not inferior to polyester ones, but they lose their color a little faster. On the other hand, they better withstand acids and aggressive substances. They also do not peel off and are stay long on the surface. Vulnerability to UV makes them unsuitable for outdoor use, but in a chemical plant or indoor pool they are great shield for iron from corrosive factors. Epoxy materials are mostly protected at an average level, but the manufacturer will know all the details.

Epoxy-polyester

At high salinity, the epoxy-polyester group of coatings is inferior to the previous two. The results of the experiments indicate that the area of peeling of the polymer film and the oxidation zone will be larger (2.5 mm). This kind does not tolerate air pollution very well, although in general it provides effective protection in aggressive ones chemical environments. They mainly cover agricultural tools and equipment.
