How to storage powder coating?
Powder paint materials are not capricious: they are stored for a long time, do not require special conditions for transportation, they can even be kept in one room with food products. However, there are several nuances that must be taken into account in order not to spoil the coloring material.
Lacover wants customers to get the most out of our products, so in this article we will talk about the risk factors for its spoilage.
1. Dryness
First of all, the room must be dry, with a humidity level of less than 70%. If possible, it is better to avoid basements and semi-basements, especially near rivers or ponds, although it is easiest to maintain the temperature regime in them. Moisture is the main enemy of powder coating and varnish materials, they settle into lumps that are difficult to notice and later have to be sifted, but still do not obtain a sufficient level of dispersion for a high-quality coating. Additionally, it is important to check the building for fungus, which is a clear sign of unwanted moisture.
2. Temperature
For most paints, 10-20 ℃ will be optimal, and cold below 5 ℃ harms friability. Varnishes and paints that have been exposed to extreme cold (in a truck, on street), you need to move it to a room with a temperature in the range of 18-25℃, leave it for 12 hours and only then start painting.
3. Lighting
UV can be a problem if the powder coating is sensitive to it (eg epoxy powder coating). Check integrity often packaging, especially if you have to leave the paint for a while not inside the house, but under the cover. Avoid direct sunlight and because it heats the loose mass, which settles into lumps.
4. Preparation for painting
After long-term storage, it is better to sift the powders before starting application. To prepare for spraying, it is useful to purchase a vibrating table or a spraying unit, equipped with a vibrating table. Good dispersibility helps the paint to be evenly distributed over the surface – this is how a continuous and reliable polymer film is formed without gaps and bumps.
Now you know all the precautions. But it is also important to have a reliable supplier without fear of a delivery disruption. “Lacover” is ideally suited for this, therefore
