Polyester paint for metal

Polyester paint for metal is a type of powder paint composed of polyester resins using pigments and other special additives.

Polyester paint is produced:

All components are mixed, and then homogenized (the process of reducing the heterogeneity of the powder). This process is carried out at high temperatures in special equipment: twin-screw extruder.

After this, the composition is allowed to cool, crushed and sieved. Thus, a uniform powder paint is obtained, which is packaged in boxes.

Pros and Cons of Polyester Paint for Metal

The advantages of polyester paint for metal:

  • high atmospheric resistance,
  • light fastness,
  • mechanical and electrical strength,
  • increased abrasion resistance.
  • excellent adhesion to metal

This paint is a good choice for products used for outdoor applications.

Disadvantages:

Alkali resistance and dielectric properties are lower than with epoxy or epoxy-polyester paints.

Scope application of polyester paint

As we said earlier, polyester paint is applied to outdoor products. This is an excellent coating that withstands not only temperature extremes, but also humidity, UV rays and mechanical stress.

Use paint for such products:

  • metal benches;
  • lattices for protections;
  • front panels;
  • cars, motorcycles and bicycles;
  • agricultural machinery and equipment;
  • billboards;
  • transformers;
  • window and door frames;
  • air conditioners;
  • soundproof screens;
  • playgrounds;
  • lights;
  • others.

Polyester paint application

Polyester paint is applied by a spray gun in an automatic painting line, or directly by a painter in a spraying chamber.

The polymerization process of polyester paint from 15 to 30 minutes at a temperature of + 180° C to + 220° C. Also, these indicators depend on the applied product

Storage conditions for polyester paint

This type of paint must be stored in a room with a temperature regime of 25° C and with an air humidity of not more than 70%. Otherwise, you risk to receive clumping paint.

Store in drawers, without direct sunlight.

For long-term storage of paint, it is recommended to sift it on special equipment before painting: vibrating table.

Scheme of work of a vibrating table

Paint is poured into the container. The vibrating table is equipped with a motor that vibrates at the required frequency. After switching on the paint is sifted through a sieve into the box. After completing the work, the lumps remain on the sieve, and you get the powder for following painting.
