How to start using powder coating?

Powder paint is an unpretentious painting material that lasts on the surface of structures for decades. However, special equipment will be needed for application, because it cannot be applied with an ordinary roller.

Spraying installation

A spray gun is the first thing you need to buy for powder coating. In it, the bulk mass is charged with an electrostatic charge, due to which it falls evenly on the metal. There are a wide variety of setups—just a gun with a set of hoses that connect to a paint can; equipped with a special hopper or vibrating table.

Sputtering chamber

SC is much easier to apply paint; they are single-post and double-post. Charged powders won’t fly around the shop or create nasty sparks in the air that are a fire hazard, especially with lubricants on metal. The paint is filtered, sieved and extracted into a separate tank, after which reuse is possible.

Polymerization furnace

Polymerization is the most important stage of painting products. The applied layer of powder paint fuses at high temperature into a strong polymer film. It is better to choose high-quality furnaces so that the iron is heated stably in all parts of the product. Insufficient or excessive heating usually causes a defective coating.

Automatic lines

In the case of mass production, an automatic line becomes a necessity. It includes a conveyor, spraying equipment, a washing area, a drying area and, of course, a curing chamber. Sometimes a preliminary preparation line is connected, in which chemical cleaning, phosphating and other types of processing are carried out.
