Powder coating of furniture products

Powder paint is often used for the production of chairs, tables, armchairs and other interior items. It does not matter what function the product will perform, withstand high loads or be purely decorative – powder coating will add durability and a pleasant appearance. So what do you need to know before painting furniture?

Materials

LFM is a powdered polymer that requires high temperatures to fuse into a solid layer. Most powder paint materials polymerizes at 170 – 220℃, but there are special low-temperature powders that will need only 140℃. They are used when necessary to paint MDF is a hard durable material of wood origin. It is ideal for high-quality products, and with powder coating you all possible colors are available.

Other materials that are widely used to create furniture and decor are metal and ceramics. They do not require any special powders – you can safely cover them with ordinary ones. The polymer film will make the iron pleasant to the touch and protected against rust, and will give the ceramic figurine an unusual bright color.

Special application

Metal and ceramic objects do not need special attention, as they can withstand high heat. MDF is not so lucky – it has to be carefully painted. First, holes will be made in the parts for connections during assembly, so that they can be hung on hooks, then they will be preheated so as not to be damaged due to sudden heating. It is necessary to remove all dirt and dust, because chips will form in their place. It is necessary to assemble the finished product only after all the elements have cooled down, otherwise the coating will be damaged. For everything else, just follow the usual instructions.
