What must be taken into account when choosing a powder coating?

Epoxy coating

Epoxy type of coloring powders are reliable and durable. It has the best anti-corrosion characteristics. In general, it is paint products based on epoxy resins that are used for the most reliable protection against rust. They are impervious to even acid and alkali on iron, and these substances are extremely corrosive, not to mention that some acids can burn a hole in a thin layer of metal.

However, this variety does not withstand sunlight very well. After several years in the bright sun, the color may fade.

Polyester coating

The polyester type is weather-resistant. It has high resistance to moisture and ultraviolet light, so it is mainly used to cover external structures: stairs, baskets for air conditioners, lanterns. Excellent adhesion and flexibility allows good resistance to mechanical damage and abrasion.

The polyester polymer film forms a fairly dense layer, through which it is difficult for any external factors to break through, but it resists the action of aggressive chemicals not in the best way.

Hybrid coloring materials

Sometimes resins are mixed to obtain more versatile coatings. This is how epoxy-polyester and polyester-epoxy paint is produced. The larger proportion of base resin determines the difference between them and the main properties. For example, in an epoxy-polyester paint, the properties of the epoxy paint will prevail, and vice versa.
