Powder coating of screws
Screws – universal fasteners for drywall, wood and roofing. They, just like large parts, affect the durability and functionality of the entire structure. Therefore, they must be resistant to various negative influences, especially to the appearance of rust. Powder paint can meet these needs. It will provide them with a long service life and a normal appearance.

Powder paint protects screws from rust and adverse environmental influences (ultraviolet radiation, weather conditions, etc.)
For painting screws, you can choose any color according to the RAL-catalog. And this is very important. Because sometimes the usual metallic color simply does not fit the general design style and spoils the whole appearance.
Screws are practically not used without painting. Just because they cannot perform their functions for a long time without coverage. They are quickly deteriorated and spoil the entire structure.
Powder paint benefits
Powder paint:
- Is quickly put and dries.
- Additionally protects the product.
- Has high adhesion.
- Environmentally friendly and safe.
- Does not fill complex slots on self-tapping screws.
It allows you to adjust the thickness of the coating.
All these advantages of paint make it much better than other types of paints and varnishes. But to achieve that the coating possesses these properties you should adhere to the technology of painting.
Powder coating of screws: technology
Paint covers only the head of the screws and the upper part of the complete washer with a sealant. This is done so that the coating does not slip when screwing the fasteners.
First, the self-tapping screw is cleaned of contaminants, fats, oils, it is degreased and dried. Then powder paint is applied to it in the spraying booth and sent to the polymerization furnace. The final coating formation takes place in it: the powder particles melt, form a film and harden. The furnace heats up to 180 – 220 degrees. The baking time is up to 30 minutes. After this, the self-tapping screw needs time to cool and can be used.
The quality of the painting directly depends on the paint that is used, and adherence to the painting technology.

Problems with powder coating of screws
During painting of large parts, most of the powder settles on the surface. And there are no difficulties with this. Coloring occurs almost without loss of powder. But with small details, everything is not so simple. A large amount of paint passes by products. And even the electric field does not save.
To make the loss of powder minimal and speed up the painting process, it is worth applying the coating on several screws at once. They must lie in the spraying chamber close to each other. But it is very important to arrange them not too close to each other. Otherwise, the roofing screws and other fasteners sides won’t be painted. Therefore, you will have to experiment with how far they should be placed.
And of course, there will not be such a problem if the self-tapping screws are painted in “flow”. That is, to install a conveyor in production. It works completely automatically, the human factor is minimized: to set up and control the work. This is justified if a large number of products are painted. The process will be faster and better.
